Improving and Implementing Presentation Skills

Objectives: The objectives of this six-hour course are to help the participants learn how to help their students improve their presentation skills and increase awareness of their own presentation skills in the classroom and at professional development events. The training course will blend theory with opportunities to practice what you will teach. By the end of this course participants will be able to train their students to deliver impactful presentations and assess the presentations with confidence.

Participants: Ideally, participants will be teachers at the secondary or tertiary level. Education majors in university and teacher trainers are also welcome.

What to prepare: All participants should be prepared to make a four-minute presentation on the topic “My Favorite ______________”. You can bring a PPT file to show if you bring your own laptop computer or you can bring actual photographs or other visual aids.

Workshop Schedule

10-11am Introduction to presentation skills. Setting up in-class activities. Overcoming nerves. Complete introductions.
11am-12 Present your topic to your group (3-4 minutes).
1-2pm Elements of successful presentations
2-2:30pm Impromptu activity
2:30-3pm Handling Q&A
3-3:30pm Feedback and assessment
3:30-4pm Wrap up and review
